Art—Drawing and Painting Insects—Davette Leonard
Students will learn how to do illustrations using graphite and tempera paints. We will create illustrations of all the stages of development in both the insects and the plants. We will take information from books and from life. Learning to draw these important creatures and plants make it easy to identify, for example, one bee from another. Drawing techniques and the use of tempera paints are an important part of what students will learn in this class. It is important to know how to identify insects and the plants that they depend upon for laying their eggs and for food. What better way than to draw them!

Because our games are cooperative, rather than competitive, students are able to exercise their creativity and empathy, as well as their bodies. These movement-based games are aimed toward the development of motor skills and body/space awareness. Cooperative games reinforce acceptable social behavior through teamwork, fairness, and the encouragement of others. Children come together for circle games, ball games, target games, and other developmentally-appropriate games.
