On January 18, 2009 Hearthstone students
performed at the 18th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration,
given by the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Foundation Committee. The students
used various hand drums to perform a West African welcome song entitled
“Fanga” at the Theatre at Little Washington. The group has
received many compliments from all parts of the community. Thank you
Frances for orchestrating the performance, and thank you to the Hearthstone
students, parents, and teachers for putting on such a wonderful performance.
